Maternity rights
Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is payable to an employee who is employed for a period of at least 26 weeks, as long as that period of employment has continued into the fifteenth week before the baby is due. Employees are also entitled to 52 weeks maternity leave, regardless of length of service or the number of hours they work, providing they give the correct notice.
